Preparing for your treatment
Preparation for your Daxxify injections is minimal; we simply ask that you avoid taking blood-thinning medications and supplements, like aspirin, NSAIDs, vitamin E, and fish oil, for two weeks before the appointment to minimize bruising risks. Ideally, patients should also abstain from alcohol consumption for 2-3 days before the treatment.
Daxxify treatment process
On the day of your appointment, please arrive with clean, makeup-free skin if possible. We will ask you to make various facial expressions, like squinting, frowning, smiling, or raising your eyebrows, to evaluate your muscle activity and accurately mark the injection sites.
Your provider will cleanse the treatment area and offer topical numbing cream for enhanced comfort during the injection process, although most patients do not need pain management for the quick injections. Using a fine needle, Daxxify is precisely injected into the facial muscles using the premarked injection sites.
The injection process takes 15 to 30 minutes; the number of injections you’ll receive depends on various factors, including the area being treated and your facial anatomy.

Daxxify recovery & downtime
There is little-to-no downtime following your Daxxify treatment. Patients can typically return to their regular activities immediately with just a few aftercare guidelines to follow, including:
- Delay strenuous activities for 24-48 hours to prevent excessive swelling.
- Avoid pressing on or massaging treated areas for 3-5 days to prevent Daxxify from migrating outside the optimal treatment sites.
- Sleep with your head slightly elevated, being careful not to lay on treated areas for 3-5 days.
Daxxify side effects
As with any injectable treatment, you may experience some temporary side effects, including mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. These side effects usually resolve on their own within a few days.
