How are injectables different for men?
Injectables for men are different because, more often than not, men prefer a subtle improvement. While many women ask for completely smooth and wrinkle-free skin, most men want a lighter injection that won’t 100% erase wrinkles or create too much of an unnatural “lift”.
There are also technical differences, dictated by your anatomy. As a guy, your muscles are likely to require a larger dose of any neuromodulator (i.e. Botox). Because of these differences, it’s key to choose an experienced injector who has treated many men with excellent attention to detail.

1. Upper-face wrinkles
Neuromodulator, like BOTOX®, stops wrinkles from forming.
Upper face wrinkles are often the first sign of aging that men notice. Forehead wrinkles, furrows between the eyebrows, and the “crow’s feet” lines that show up on the outer corners of your eyes when you smile or squint—these are all easily treated with neuromodulator injections.
Neuromodulator formulas include BOTOX®, Dysport®, Daxxify, and Jeuveau®. All work similarly: the injection of purified botulinum toxin type A stops nerve signals to those muscles that, when activated, create the wrinkle. After you stop making the face that created the wrinkle in the first place, these lines will no longer be etched into your skin.
We will carefully observe your facial animation and tailor your neuromodulator treatment to your anatomy. Pro tip: It’s smart to start neuromodulator injections when you’re young, since they can slow the progression of lines before they start.

2. Mid-face volume loss
Filler helps with aging-related volume loss in the mid-face.
Does your face look “sunken”? Fallen fat pads, weakening muscles, and thinning skin combine to give our faces this look as we get older. Injections of the appropriate dermal filler for the area, such as Juvéderm® Voluma™ in the cheeks, offer a solution; we inject the natural-feeling gel below the skin, where it sits in place and helps to “lift” the skin where you need it.
A little dermal filler placed in areas like the cheeks reverse mild midface volume loss by re-building volume below the skin in these key areas. Results last as long as 2 years, and filler is naturally re-absorbed by the body over time.
3. Tear troughs (under-eye creases)
Filler lifts under-eye creases for an alert and rested appearance.
The creases below our eyes show our age—and stress levels—more than we’d like. Luckily, this is one of the areas that we can safely treat with a dermal filler such as Belotero®. Treating tear troughs alone creates one of the most noticeable changes before-and-after that we can accomplish with filler, yet nobody will be able to guess that you had injectables (they’ll simply think you had a really good night of sleep!). Results last about 6-12 months.
4. Nasolabial folds & marionette lines (lines beside the nose and mouth)
Fill and subtly “lift” the wrinkles and folds that become etched around the mouth.
While upper face wrinkles are best treated with neuromodulator, these common wrinkles around the mouth respond well to injection with a dermal filler such as Juvéderm® Vollure™. By injecting below the wrinkle, the skin is gently lifted and the wrinkle’s shadow disappears. Dermal filler in this area allows you to continue to form your full facial expressions, ensuring that you still look like you, just a bit younger. Results last for 18 months or longer.

5. Ill-defined jawline
Injectable dermal filler adds volume to strengthen a weak jawline.
A strong, clearly-defined jawline has long been thought of as a hallmark of masculine appearance. For men who could use extra definition along the base of the jawline, we can use a dermal filler such as Juvéderm Voluma to increase definition. If you also are experiencing midface aging, filling out the jawline and the mid-face at once creates a masculine-looking balance, restoring more youthful proportions by approaching aging from two areas. Results last up to 2 years.
6. Weak chin
Chin filler creates balanced facial proportions.
A weak chin can distract from your best features or throw them out of proportion. Alone or combined with jawline filler, dermal filler in the chin can have a noteworthy impact on your overall look if you are a good candidate. Results last up to 2 years.
7. Excessive sweating
Neuromodulator treats hyperhidrosis (excess sweating) in the underarms or hands.
Most of our patients say, “Wait, what?” when we tell them how Botox can relieve excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis. We can inject Botox into the palms of the hands or the underarms are pause nerve signals that tell your body to sweat, relieving unwanted symptoms for up to 6 months after just one injection treatment.
