Chemical Peels Q & A

What is a Chemical Peel?

The skilled professionals at PureLee Redefined perform a chemical peel by using a chemical solution to exfoliate the surface layers of your skin.

The chemical solution creates a controlled wound that causes old, dry, dead skin cells to peel away. The result is fresher, younger-looking skin and a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, sun damage, and other blemishes.

What chemical does PureLee Redefined use?

There are several different types of chemicals that can be used for a chemical peel. Our team of experienced aesthetics will determine which chemical to use based on your skin goals. These options include:

Vi Peels

This is a popular favorite due to the boosted effect on acne, acne scarring, aging and pigment problems as well as boosting collagen. The Vi Peels are a collection of 5 peels perfect for addressing patient concerns from young, acneic skin to mature, anti-aging skin. This type of chemical peel brightens skin and improves the tone and texture and is safe for all skin types.

Alpha hydroxy acid peels

The alpha hydroxy acid peel is a superficial peel that can smooth rough texture, brighten your complexion, and reduce redness. Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) is a mild chemical that exfoliates only the outer skin layers.

Glycolic peels

Glycolic acid peels are an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the top and middle layers of skin. This peel is great for reducing the effects of sun damage, increasing collagen products, and improving acne! The results will leave you with brighter, healthier-looking skin.

Trichloroacetic acid peels

Trichloroacetic acid, also known as a TCA peel, comes in a variety of strengths of acid that will remove the dead skin cells and stimulate new skin cell growth. It exfoliates the middle skin layer but the degree is dependent upon the concentration of the TCA, skin texture and volume of TCA used. If you are wanting younger looking skin or need to treat a skin condition like acne scarring, TCA peels is a great option!

The Chemical Peel Process

To start the treatment, your aesthetics specialist will first cleanse your face and then apply the chemical peel solution that was selected. Depending on the type of solution, the peel will either remain on your skin for a few minutes or for 4-6 hours. This will strictly depend on what chemical peel you use and the skin goals you are trying to accomplish. The solution is then later washed off in the comfort of your own home. You may experience a stinging sensation during the treatment which is eased with the use of cool air.

After your treatment, your specialist will make sure you have everything you need to care for your skin. Once your skin has healed, you’ll enjoy softer, smoother, healthier skin that glows with youthful radiance.
